Birgunj Metropolitan City Unveils Rs 3.86 Billion Budget For FY 2077/78

Birgunj Metropolitan City has presented its annual policy, program and budget of Rs. 3.86 billion for the coming fiscal year 2077/78. Deputy Chief Shanti Karki unveiled a budget of Rs 3.86 billion for the coming fiscal year 2077/78 at the 7th Municipal Council of Birgunj Metropolitan City, the only metropolis of the state.

In the annual budget of the coming fiscal year, the metropolis has allocated Rs 1.62 billion or 42.09 percent of the total budget for current expenditure. Likewise, it has administered Rs 2.17 billion or 56.26 percent for capital expenditure and Rs 63.6 million or 11.65 percent for financial management.
Out of the total expenditure, the budget has allocated 45.81 percent or Rs 1.77 billion for infrastructre development. Similarly, for the social development sector, the metropolis has announced a 22.71 percent or Rs 877.74 million budget. Likewise, it will spend 18.62 percent or Rs. 719.81 million on office operation.

Birgunj Metropolitan City has estimated to receive Rs. 428.8 million from financial equalization, Rs. 211.2 million from revenue distribution and Rs. 751.6 million from conditional grant by the federal government.
