Surya Prasad Silwal Appointed As Chairman Of Insurance Board (Beema Samiti)

The government has appointed former secretary Surya Prasad Silwal as the chairman of the Insurance Board Of Nepal (Beema Samiti). The cabinet meeting on Monday appointed Silwal as chairman of the Insurance Board on the proposal of the finance ministry.
The Insurance Board was without leadership after the then chairman Chiranjeevi Chapagain retired on Poush 23, 2077 BS. The board got the chairmanship about two months after the vacancy.
There are currently 19 life insurance companies, 20 non-life insurance companies and one reinsurance company operating in Nepal. These insurance companies are regulated and supervised by the Insurance Board.
