Electricity Leakage Reduced to 14.35 Percent: NEA

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced the leakage in the system to 14.35 percent in the first four months of the current fiscal year. According to NEA, the leakage has been reduced by 2.83 percentage points from Shrawan to Karthik of the current Fiscal Year 2078/79. NEA has set a target to reduce electricity leakage to 15.5 percent in the current fiscal year.

The leakage is 9.24 percent in distribution and the rest in transmission and production. As of Karthik last year, the leakage towards distribution was 12.01 percent. 

NEA had reduced the leakage of electricity from 25.78 percent in FY 2072/73 to 15.25 percent in FY 2076/77. However, in FY 2077/78,  the leakage had increased by 1.91 percentage points and reached 17.18 percent.
