August 1, 2019 | Investopaper

Facebook has funded a study to achieve a breakthrough in its plan regarding AI and mind synchronization. By doing so, it is aiming to create a device that will enable people to type just by thinking. The company has aided a study that developed machine learning algorithms. These algorithms are capable of transforming brain activity into speech.

It worked on epilepsy patients who had recording electrodes placed on their brain. The machine was successful to assess the origin of their seizures ahead of the surgery. Facebook is hopeful that AI mind integration will open a way for a “fully non-invasive, wearable device” that can process 100 words per minute.

Researchers are confident that this work will help people with speech loss.
