The government has increased the fares of public and freight transport to be effective from Ashad 6, 2079 BS. The government has decided to increase the fare by 5.3 percent to 6.94 percent. Previously, the government had hiked the fare transport on Jestha 27.
The Department of Transport Management has changed the fares of public and freight vehicles for the seventh time in a span of ten months.
The fare of public passenger vehicles operating from one state to another has been increased by 5.3 percent. Similarly, the government has increased the fare of freight vehicles operating on hilly roads by 6.94 percent and freight vehicles operating in the Terai by 7.7 percent.
The government has said that the fare has been adjusted as the price of petroleum products has increased. At present, petrol is priced at Rs 199 per liter and diesel at Rs 192 per liter.
