The government has increased the fares of public and freight transport to be effective from Ashad 27, 2079 BS.
The Department of Transport Management has hiked the fare of public transport with the rise in fuel prices. The fare of public transport is adjusted according to the automated system when the fuel prices rise or fall by more than 5 percent.
The fare of transport has inclined by 1.79 percent to 2.6 percent. Previously, the government had reduced the fare of public transport on Ashad 12.
The fare of public passenger vehicles operating from one state to another has been increased by 1.79 percent. Similarly, the government has increased the fare of freight vehicles operating on hilly roads by 2.34 percent and freight vehicles operating in the Terai by 2.6 percent.
The Department of Transport Management has changed the fares of public and freight vehicles for the ninth time in a span of eleven months.
The government has said that the fare has been adjusted as the price of petroleum products has decreased. At present, petrol is priced at Rs 181 per liter and diesel at Rs 172 per liter.
