Huawei gets continuity in its UK 5G networks with restrictions

January 29, 2020 | Investopaper

The UK has decided to give Huawei the continuity to be used in its 5G network although the US pressurized UK to block the firm.

On the other hand, it has also posed restrictions to Huawei as the Chinese firm has been banned from supplying kit to the sensitive parts of the network which is known as the core. It will only be allowed to account for 35 percent of the kit in the network’s periphery. It will also be excluded from the areas near military bases and nuclear sites.

The US pressurized UK to block Chinese firm Huawei by stating that it poses a national security threat. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had spoken to Donald Trump to explain the move.
