Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Presents Budget Of Rs 18.95 Billion For 2078/79

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has announced a budget of Rs. 18.95 billion for the coming fiscal year 2078/79. Hari Prabha Khadki Shrestha, KMC Deputy Chief presented the estimated budget at the ninth session of the KMC on Thursday. The budget is Rs 2.53 billion more than the current fiscal year. The metropolis had allocated Rs 16.42 billion budget for this fiscal year 2077/78.
The budget has proposed Rs 3.75 billion for office operation and administration, Rs 550 million for economic development, Rs 2.70 billion for social development, Rs 10.80 billion for infrastructure development and Rs 1.15 billion for good governance and inter-related sectors.
The budget has given priority to the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19, development of physical infrastructure, waste management, gender equality and social inclusion, language, culture and heritage protection and promotion.
The metropolis has allocated budget for senior citizen meeting center, priority for reconciliation through local conflict resolution, assistance for people with disabilities, promotion of human rights, gender equality and social inclusion, basic urban physical infrastructure, culture and heritage protection, preservation and promotion of local language, entrepreneurship promotion. The budget has also been allocated for the promotion of e-governance, mayor with the youth, development of sports, remuneration for subsistence and other programs.
