Local Level Of Nepal: Mobile App For Payment Of Services At Local Level
September 10, 2020 | Investopaper
You no longer have to carry cash to pay for services provided at the local level. If you have to pay any kind of tax or fee determined by the local level, the amount can be paid from the mobile app created by the government.
Now the payment for services can be paid through the ‘Local Level Of Nepal’ App prepared by the Department of Information Technology under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. At present, such payment can be done using E-sewa, Khalti etc. The arrangement has been made to pay the amount by ‘linking’ the payment provider from the app.
Attempts have been made to integrate this app by updating it last time, meaning that the same app can now be used for all local levels, as local bodies are now using separate apps. The department has stated that the app has been integrated for reducing the cost of using different apps. The app provides services, programs and projects provided by the local level, rules and regulations, details of wards, important places, emergency numbers, suggestions and complaints, registration of problems, public opinion and other information including double communication.
Arrangements has been made to provide a separate login account to the local level including the provinces in case any important information has to be issued through the app. Although it is an integrated app, the app has been prepared in such a way that the entire local level will have a different identity. The template of this app prepared by the department has been used by 433 local levels so far.
The department has developed the app in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. In particular, the department has taken various details and information related to the local level from the ministry. The apps in the Play Store and App Store with different names of local levels will not be operated automatically.
Now the fee set by the municipality, local level, can be paid through the payment service provider. After the payment is made, the ‘receipt’ goes to the local level. Citizens can log in to this app themselves. Email is required when logging in. After logging in, the One Time Password (OTP) goes to the email as information. Such OTP should be entered within five minutes.
