About 84 percent physical progress of the Lower Sanjen Hydropower Project under construction in the Chilime area of North Rasuwa has been completed. The project has completed the construction of 3,630 meters of headrace tunnel, 1,051 meters of the surge tank, 478 meters of penstock tunnel, and a powerhouse.
The work of laying pipes in concrete and penstock tunnels is in full swing after the construction of the tunnel to bring water to the powerhouse.
The project was started in 2013 with the aim to generate 42.5 MW of electricity.
Although the overall progress of the construction of the structure is 84 percent complete, the work of connecting the equipment is being delayed due to the absence of technicians to take charge of the work inside the powerhouse.
Similarly, the 14.8 MW Upper Sanjen Hydropower Project is also waiting for Chinese technicians for the connection of equipment. About 98 percent of the construction of the structure of this project has been completed so far.
Utilizing the water of Chilime River, the same water brought from the dam at Tiloche Bagar will generate a total of 57.3 MW of electricity, and separate powerhouses have been constructed at two places
Upper Sanjen Hydropower Project (14.8 MW) and Lower Sanjen Hydropower Project (42.5 MW) are being developed by Sanjen Hydropower Company.
