According to the Customs Department, Nepal has imported the highest number of mobile phones so far until Baisakh of the current fiscal rear 2077/78.
Nepal has imported 6.35 million mobile phones worth Rs 32.09 billion in just 10 months. Such imports stood at Rs 14.68 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. Nepal has collected more than Rs 5 billion in customs revenue from mobile imports.
Before this, the highest mobile import of Rs. 21.17 billion has been recorded in the 10 months of the fiscal year 2074/75.
Mobile ranks in fourth among the list of most imported items in Nepal. Diesel, semi-processed iron products and raw soybeans are the major imports before Mobile phones. The import of these items has exceeded Rs 70 billion, Rs 57 billion and Rs 37 billion respectively until Baisakh.
