Number Of Nepali Workers Going For Foreign Employment Decline Sharply

The number of people going for foreign employment has decreased significantly in FY 2077/78. According to the Department of Foreign Employment, only 1,66,305 people went for foreign employment in the fiscal year 2077/78. In the previous fiscal year 2076/77, about 3,68,413 people had gone for foreign employment.

Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman have seen the biggest decline in the number of Nepali workers due to corona. Due to Corona, the number of Nepali workers going to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE has decreased by more than 100 percent. 

The number of Nepali workers going to labor destinations has dropped sharply due to the global epidemic. The government has not been able to provide alternative employment even though the number of youths going for foreign employment has been declining.
