Study shows China and US lead AI globally

The study published by U.N. World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Thursday has shown that  China and USA are in the pole position to control artificial intelligence globally.

The findings revealed that US company IBM led the AI patent portfolio followed by Microsoft with 8920 and 5930 patents respectively.

Similarly, the study has shown that China has mainly focused on the area of ‘deep learning’ and also accounts for 17 of the top 20 academic institutions involved in patenting AI.  Deep learning is a machine learning technique that covers speech recognition systems.

Also, the US and China are front in terms of numbers of applications and scientific publications, the WIPO director told the news conference.
