Bank Of Kathmandu To Invest In Upper Ingwa Khola Hydropower Project (9.7 MW)

Bank of Kathmandu Limited is going to provide loan financing in Upper Ingwa Khola Hydropower Project. An agreement was signed between the bank and the promoter company Ingwa Hydopower Ltd. on Jestha 31, 2078 BS.

Upper Ingwa Khola Hydropower Project has an installed capacity of 9.7 MW and will generate electricity from Ingwa Khola located at Taplejung. The estimated cost of the 9.7 MW Upper Ingwa Hydropower Project is Rs. 1.95 billion. The project will be funded through a 75 percent loan and 25 percent equity. Hence, BOKL will invest Rs 1.46 billion as a loan in the project. The remaining amount will be injected as equity.

Ingwa Hydropower is constructing the project in Yangbarak and Sidingba villages of the Taplejung and Panchthar districts. After the completion of the project, the generated electricity will be connected to the Amarpur substation. The company will construct the required 16 km long 33 kV transmission line up to the substation.

Ingwa Hydopower Pvt. Ltd. has already received a construction license for the project from the Department of Electricity Development (DOED). The department provided the license for construction with the validity from Karthik 28, 2077 BS to Karthik 27, 2112 BS.
