WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger to be integrated within 2020

January  27, 2019 | Investopaper

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed his plan to integrate three popular social network messaging services within 2020. He has plans to integrate WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger. Facebook acquired WhatsApp and Instagram which were previously an independent company.

Not a single app is being made for the integration but the underlying technical infrastructure of the messaging services will be unified. The services will be operated through their respective apps alone.

Around 2.6 billion users are connected through these three messaging services and now they can communicate across the platforms after the process of unification completes. The plan is expected to complete within 2020. The app is ordered to incorporate end-to-end encryption which will assure that the messages will be viewed only by the participants in a conversation.

In the last two years, Facebook has been hit by reputational damages and criticized for data privacy scandal and issues related to spreading of disinformation.
