Tanahu Hydropower Distributes Rs.130 Crores in Compensation

Tanahu Hydropower Limited, the developer of the 140 MW Tanahu Hydroelectric Project, has distributed the compensation amount worth Rs 130 crores for the acquisition of land. The project is under construction in the Rishing Rural Municipality of Tanahu district.
An area of 150 ropanis of land has been acquired for the access road to the camp and powerhouse. For that, about Rs 40 crores compensation has been distributed. Likewise, the company has acquired 50 ropanis of land for the access road to the dam site for which it has distributed Rs. 8 crores as compensation. Similarly, 1,230 ropanis of land have been acquired for the reservoir area for which the company has spent Rs 82 crores in compensation.
The project has made 25 percent physical progress so far. The total estimated cost of the project is US $ 505 million. Out of this, ADB will provide 150 million, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will finance 184 million, and European Investment Bank 80.5 million and the Nepal Electricity Authority will finance 86 million dollars.
