French carmaker Renault makes record sale in 2018

French carmaker Renault has sold around 3.9 million vehicles in 2018. The sales has increased by 3.2 percent as compared to the previous year. With this, the company has gone past its French rival PSA.

The company said that the higher sales in 2018 was driven by increase in demand for low cost model of Renault cars along with two light utility vehicles manufactured in joint venture with China’s Brilliance.

Similarly, two brands Dacia and Lada also boosted the sales last year. Both sales rose by 7 percent and 19 percent respectively. Zoe brand led the electric vehicle sales with company accounting to 50,000 electric vehicles sales in 2018, a 37 percent jump.

With the launch of new models, Renauld said that it was aiming for slight growth in sales with an acceleration in the second half of the year.

Renault has been able to grow its sales since last six years in a succession. It holds a  powerful alliance with Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Renault is preparing to replace its boss Carlos Ghosn who has been under bars for charges of financial misconduct.
