Sudurpaschim State Unveils Budget of Rs 31.63 Billion for FY 2081/82

The Sudurpaschim Province government has allocated a budget of Rs. 31.63 billion for the fiscal year 2081/082. Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Surendra Bahadur Pal presented this budget to the Provincial Assembly on Saturday. The allocation includes Rs. 11.07 billion (35 percent) for current expenditures, Rs. 17.53 billion (55.42 percent) for capital expenditures, and Rs. 2.93 billion (9.5 percent) for inter-governmental financial transfers.

Revenue sources are projected as follows: Rs. 1.61 billion from internal revenue, Rs. 9.99 billion from federal revenue sharing, Rs. 40.45 million from federal royalties, Rs. 8.72 billion from federal financial equalization grants, Rs. 6.16 billion from savings of the current fiscal year, Rs. 3.13 billion from conditional grants, Rs.1.42 billion from federal complementary grants, and Rs. 556 million from special grants.

The budget prioritizes agriculture, health, tourism, infrastructure development, education, and self-employment programs. Special emphasis is given to energy, medicinal herbs, agricultural subsidies, forestry and environmental conservation, industry, social justice, and drinking water programs. Initiatives include subsidies for seeds and fertilizers, agricultural mechanization, and promoting local crop marketing.

For infrastructure, Rs. 5.68 billion has been allocated for road development, including key projects like Khaptad-Martadi, Satbanj-Shribhavar-Haat, and others. Rs. 1.92 billion is allocated for water supply and sanitation, and Rs. 3.61 billion for energy, irrigation, and river control. Tourism promotion includes funding for Prem Singh Dhami Tourism Promotion.

Other key allocations include Rs. 204 million for the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests, and Environment; Rs. 120 million for the construction of the Sudurpaschim Province Science and Technology University; and support for heritage preservation and sports infrastructure, including Rs. 120 million for sports facilities in Tikapur and Mahendranagar. The budget also includes initiatives for health sector improvement, women’s disaster management, crime reduction, and religious site development.
