The coronavirus outbreak that has spread rapidly across the world has become a global pandemic, said the WHO officials on Wednesday.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the W.H.O.’s director-general said “In the past 2 weeks, the number of corona infected cases has increased by more than 13 times outside China. The countries affected by COVID19 has almost tripled.”

“Countries should learn from one another’s successes, act in unison and help protect each other from the common threat” he added.

Coronavirus has already spread to more than 120,000 people worldwide. The total deaths from the virus have surpassed 4,300 all over the world. While the cases in China and South Korea have declined, other countries have reported an increment in the number of infected cases.

“The fact that 90 percent of the world’s cases are in four countries: China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea, indicates that the pandemic can still be contained if countries act fast,” said Dr. Tedros.
