Bhaktapur welcomes Visit Nepal Year 2020 from Nagarkot

Crowds of domestic and foreign tourists gathered at Batasedanda of Nagarkot from 5 am today to welcome in the New Year 2020 and along with it inaugurate the Visit Nepal Year.
Batasedanda in Nagarkot was full of people early in the morning for participating in the inauguration of the Visit Nepal Year 2020. The inauguration program was organized by the District Coordination Committee Bhaktapur and the Nagarkot Naldum Tourism Development Committee.
Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma, lawmaker and former minister Mahesh Basnet, State 3 Assembly member Saraswati Bati, Pratima Shrestha, District Coordination Committee chief Nawaraj Gelal, deputy chief Sarita Kunwar, Changunarayan municipality mayor Som Prasad Mishra, deputy mayor Bina Bastola, Surya Binayak municipality mayor Basudev Thapa, Madhyapur Thimi municipality mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha, Mandan Deupur municipality mayor Top Bahadur Waiba, Bhaktapur district chief district officer Humkala Pandey and people from various organizations and agencies welcomed the Visit Year 2020. A contingent of the Nepali Army was also there.
On the occasion, Minister Bishwakarma hoisted the National Flag and expressed happiness to welcome the New Year and the Visit Nepal Year 2020 from Nagarkot. He stressed the need for cooperation from all sectors for making the Visit Year successful.
According to him, these special packages have to be brought for lengthening the stay of tourists in Nepal. New tourism destinations would have to be identified and promoted, he suggested.
Former minister Basnet said Bhaktapur has huge potentials for tourism and many touristic places like Nagarkot, Changunarayan, Mulakotgadhi, Suryabinayak, Ranikot, Ghyampedanda, etc. He urged all the four municipalities in Bhaktapur to prepare package tours for tourists to all the tourist destinations in the district.
Changunarayan mayor Mishra said the municipality has done all the preparations and the tourism entrepreneurs have also brought special packages for attracting tourists in Nagarkot.
People in large numbers had gathered at the program organized on the occasion of the Visit Nepal Year and New Year. They were there for observing the sunrise and welcoming the New Year 2020. The Nepal Army sounded the bugle and flower petals were showered from a helicopter. A variety of cultural program was also organized on the occasion.
