Deposits In BFIs Start Improving After Dashain | Rs. 38 Billion Added On Wednesday

Deposits in the banking system has increased by Rs. 38 billion on Wednesday. According to the data released by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the deposits in the BFIs increased to Rs. 5,125 billion as compared to Rs. 5,087 billion on Tuesday.

Bankers have said that deposits have increased as the money spent on Dashain is slowly returning to the system. On the other hand, as the government has increased the expenses for the election, that money has also returned as a deposit.

The total deposits of commercial banks increased by Rs. 36 billion to Rs. 4,517 billion while the deposits of other BFIs stood at Rs. 608 billion.

However, the total lending fell by Rs. 2 billion on Wednesday to Rs. 4,721 billion.

With the rise in deposits, the CD ratio has fallen to 87.01 percent.
