Three of the commercial banks promoted by the government have undergone stunning financial progress in the past several years. Nepal Bank (NBL), Agricultural Development Bank (ADBL), and Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) have vastly surpassed expectations and positioned themselves strongly for competing with the private sector banks.

In the first quarter of this fiscal year (2076/77), all 3 banks have delivered a satisfactory performance. Rastriya Banijya Bank has excelled over Nepal Bank and Agricultural Development Bank. As per the report, RBB tops the other two in several financial indicators such as deposits, loans, interest income, and the profit.
