NOC To Build Diesel Storage Site In Pokhara

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is planning to build a 1 crores liter diesel storage facility in Pokhara at a time when there is difficulty in managing the supply of petroleum products due to lack of adequate storage facilities. The corporation has started construction of storage tanks with an investment of Rs. 77.77 crores.

The construction of two storage tanks of 50 lakh liters (five thousand kiloliters) under the Gandaki regional office of the corporation will start from this year.The corporation plans to formally lay the foundation stone this week.

At present, the diesel storage capacity in Gandaki, Pokhara is only 22.80 lakh liters. A storage facility is being constructed at the depot premises of the corporation in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 29 Gagangonda. The corporation’s Pokhara depot is spread over an area of ​​77 ropanis. Under normal circumstances, 280 kiloliters of diesel and 120 kiloliters of petrol are sold daily from Pokhara depot.

An agreement has been reached with a plan to complete the construction of the storage site within two years. The depots are designed to be built according to international standards. The current petrol storage capacity in Pokhara is 350 kiloliters. The corporation plans to convert the existing 2,280 kiloliter tanks to store petrol after the construction of 10,000 kiloliter diesel storage site is completed.

The corporation currently has a storage capacity of only 71,674 kiloliters of diesel, petrol, kerosene and aviation fuel.
