Samsung Overtakes Apple To Become World’s Largest Smartphone Maker

Samsung has become the world’s largest smartphone maker surpassing Apple. According to research firm Canalys, in the first quarter of 2021, South Korean brand Samsung shipped 76.5 million smartphones. With this, the market share of Samsung has reached 22 percent. Apple has shipped 52.4 million iPhones with market share of 15 percent.
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is in third place. Xiaomi has 14 percent market share with shipment of 49 million units. Chinese brand Huawei has dropped to seventh place. The sales of Huawei has been steadily declining due to sanctions imposed by countries including the United States. Huawei had sold 18.6 million units,
Global smartphone sales rose 27 percent to 347 million units in the first quarter of 2021. Sales of smartphones have risen due to economic recovery after the corona epidemic.
