Upper Rawa Khola Hydropower Project Connected To The National Grid

The 3 MW Upper Rawa Khola Small Hydropower Project of Khotang is connected to the national grid. The electricity generated from Rawa Khola on the border of Kepilasgadhi Gaonpalika-7, Sundel and Kepilasgadhi Gaonpalika-6, Dipsung has been connected to the national grid since Tuesday.

After the completion of the construction work in almost four years, the electricity generated from the Upper Rawa Khola Small Hydropower Project is ready to be connected to the national transmission line. According to Rawa Energy Development Pvt Limited, the electricity has been generated from Rawa river by pouring water in Damkubensi of Sundel through a 2100 meter long pipeline from the headdress constructed on Thursday.

The total cost of the Upper Rawa Project stood at Rs 60 crores. Out of the total, 70 percent is financed by Rastriya Banijya Bank and 30 percent by the promoter Rawa Energy Development Pvt Limited. Although the initiative was started in 2068 BS, the construction work of Upper Rawa Khola Small Hydropower Project was started in 2073 BS. The Upper Rawa Khola Small Hydropower Project is the largest hydropower project in the district so far completed by the private sector.
