The government has decided to hand over the construction of 750 MW West Seti Reservoir Hydropower Project to Indian government-owned NHPC Limited.
The committee formed to study the project had recommended to the Investment Board that it would be appropriate to develop the project in public-private partnership (PPP) model. Accordingly, the board has decided to hand over the West Seti project to the Indian company.
The decision was taken at a board meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday.
Similarly, the board has also decided to give the responsibility of constructing Seti river-6 (SR6) hydropower project to NHPC Limited. The installed capacity of the project is 450 MW.
