Electric Vehicles Discouraged By Government: NADA

June 1, 2020 | Investopaper

Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has said that the government has imposed high tariff rates on electric vehicles as well as diesel and petrol vehicles, making it impossible for the public to buy electric vehicles. In a statement issued on Sunday, it said that the government’s double and uncertain criteria have led to the sinking of large investments by entrepreneurs.

The government has violated the provision that only official sellers in Nepal can import new vehicles or means of transportation. The provision of importing from any vendor appointed by the manufacturing company has created a situation where the manufacturer has no information or liability. As a result, only the local sellers of imported vehicles are responsible.
