Palpa’s Largest Cold Storage In Rampur In Final Stage Of Construction

The construction work of the largest cold storage in Palpa district has reached the final stage. Rampur Municipality is constructing a cold storage with a capacity of 300 metric tons to store local products.
The construction work of a four-room cold storage building in an area of about one ropani in the Agriculture and Animal Service Branch Office premises has been completed about 80 percent. Technical room with cold storage, two-storey house and toilet will be constructed.
Rabina and Abhisha JV Construction Pvt. Ltd. jointly started the construction from Ashad 5, 2077 at a contract of Rs 3.52 crores. Construction of cold storage has been started with the conditional grant assistance of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Lumbini Province, Butwal. The contract was signed in FY 2076/77 by preparing DPR in FY 2075/76.
Due to the lack of cold storage here, farmers had to move their produce to other cold storage facilities. After the construction of large capacity cold storage started in Rampur, the farmers have been emphasizing on the production of agricultural produce this year. As there is no cold storage in Rampur Municipality, vegetables and fruits produced here have to be taken to Bhairahawa, Syangja and other places for storage.
Various agricultural produce including potatoes, bananas, vegetables and grains produced here can be kept in cold storage. Rampur Municipality Spokesperson Humnath Neupane informed that the construction work of the cold storage will be completed by end of Poush and the potatoes produced by the farmers will be kept from this year.
Last year, 115 quintals of potato seeds planted in ward 6 under the municipality’s ‘One Ward, One Product Program’ were stored in the Jimuwa cold storage in Galyang Municipality, Syangja. A cold storage with a capacity of 25 metric tons has been constructed and is in operation in Rambha village municipality of Palpa district.
