National Food Bank Established In Pokhara

National Food Bank Limited has been established in Pokhara with the aim of delivering non-toxic food items to the kitchen of every consumer. The bank will set up offices in all seven states of the country in the first phase.
Executive Chairman of the Bank, Shankar Nath Upreti, informed that emphasis will be laid on research work along with production, storage and sale/distribution keeping in mind the impact on human health due to pesticides used indiscriminately to increase production.
Chairman Upreti informed that food items will be produced by renting government barren land, vacant land of community forest, guthi etc. Offices will be set up in all the seven states calling on people to become share members of the bank. The food bank was established with the investment of Rs 2 billion.
