Nepal Telecom’s 4G Users Cross 16 Lakhs

The number of 4G subscribers of Nepal Telecom has crossed 16 lakhs after 21 months of launching 4G services across the country. Telecom has almost doubled its 4G subscriber base in two months. According to the data made public by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority as of Bhadra, the number of 4G customers of the telecom is 16.40 lakhs. As of Ashad, there were only 843,000 such customers.
The telecom had started work in Magh, 2075, saying that it would expand the 4G service across the country within a year. But so far the work has not been completed. Telecom is going to spend around Rs 19 billion for the expansion of Forge service across the country. For this, CCSI has been given the responsibility of expanding the radio access network and another Chinese company ZTE has been given the responsibility of expanding the core network.
So far, there are more than 55.16 lakhs 4G service customers in Nepal. According to NTA, most of the customers are from Ncell. As per the report, Ncell has 37.29 lakhs 4G customers. The number of 4G subscribers of Smart Telecom is 182,000.
Although Ncell is in the forefront of 4G services, Nepal Telecom has the largest market for 3G services. According to NTA, the telecom has more than 84.22 lakhs 3G subscribers. Similarly, Ncell has 27.79 lakh subscribers. In recent years, Ncell has made significant strides in expanding its 4G service.
According to NTA, 74 percent of the total internet users in Nepal use mobile data. Twenty-five percent of Internet users use fixed lines while one percent of the people use wireless internet. Internet access has reached 2.28 crores people across the country. This is 76 percent of the total population.
