Quality Paper Industries has come into operation in Arunkhola, Madhyabindu Municipality-10. With an investment of Rs 1 Billion, four young entrepreneurs from Chitwan have started a paper factory in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapur) district.

Managing Director of the industry, Rajan Piya informed that kraft paper used in packaging will be produced from sheet paper by connecting state-of-the-art equipment brought from India, China and Sweden. According to him, the production capacity of the industry is 120 tons per day. He claims that waste paper is being exported abroad at cheaper prices and kraft paper is being imported from abroad.

The number of kraft paper producing industries in Nepal has reached five. One of them, the paper industry in Bhairahawa, is currently closed. There are two industries in Biratnagar and one in Birgunj. One thousand tons of kraft paper is being imported from India to Nepal every month. This amount is 60 percent of the total domestic demand.

Apart from kraft paper, the industry aims to produce 70 tonnes of white paper and newsprint daily in four months. At present, production of kraft paper in both roll and seat has been started as per the demand. The export of paper and import of kraft paper will be reduced to some extent now that the industry has come into operation. The industry has stated that 150 tons of sheet paper is required to produce 120 tons of paper.
