Super Kabeli Hydroelectric Project Begins Commercial Electrity Generation | To Produce 12 MW of Electricity

The Super Kabeli Hydroelectric Project has commenced commerical electricity generation in Taplejung. Developed by Hilton Hydro Energy Limited, the project is a Run-of-River (ROR) type hydropower project with an installed capacity of 12 megawatts.
The electricity production commenced after the completion of the construction works, and connection to the national transmission line.
The project uses the water from Kabeli River in Sirijunga Rural Municipality to produce hydroelectric power. The electricity production began on Thursday following the testing of various structures, including the dam, tunnel, powerhouse, transmission line, and switchyard. The formal commencement of electricity production was marked by a visit from a technical team from the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The project’s powerhouse is located at Othama, a boundary point between Sirijunga Rural Municipality-6 Mamangkhe and Ward 7 Khebang. The generated electricity is now connected to the national grid through a 132 kV substation at Amarpur in Hilihang Rural Municipality, via a transmission line.
The total cost of the project stands at Rs 2.14 billion, with equity investments from Hilton Hydro Energy Limited and loan financing from NMB Bank Limited, and Rastriya Banijya Bank.
The project was completed a month ahead of its scheduled deadline of Chaitra 10, 2081 BS.
The company had received the construction license for the project from the Department of electricity developmenton Karthik 12, 2078 BS. The construction license has the validity until Karthik 11, 2113 BS.
