Rs 15 Billion Tax Revenue Collected From Share Market

In the fiscal year 2077/78, the government has collected  about Rs. 15 billion tax from the share market. This is more than 13 times as compared to the previous fiscal year. In the fiscal year 2076/77, the tax collection was around Rs. 1.15 billion from share trading.

Investors have earned a profit of around Rs 300 billion from the capital market in the fiscal year 2077/78. Investors paid an average of five percent capital gains tax to the government from the this  profit. Such profit stood at Rs 19.60 billion in the previous year.

Similarly, the value of investors’ assets has more than doubled in one year. The total market capitalization was Rs. 1.792 trillion in 2077 BS. Such market capitalization had reached above Rs. 4 trillion in 2078 BS.

The number of active investors in the secondary market was 2.5 lakh in 2077 BS. The investors in the secondary market have grown to 9 lakh.  Hence, in the last fiscal year alone, an additional 631,000 investors have been added to the secondary market.

Shares worth Rs. 1.46 trillion have been traded in the stock market in the fiscal year 2077/78. In the previous fiscal year, a total of Rs 155.76 billion worth of shares were traded in the secondary market.
