The income from Nepal’s ready-made tea exports has increased despite the impact of COVID-19. In the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2077/78, tea exports amounted to Rs 3.06 billion. In the fiscal year 2076/77, Nepal has exported Rs 2.78 billion in the fiscal year 2076/77.
According to the National Tea and Coffee Development Board, 11,185 metric tonnes of ready-made tea was exported last year. However, despite the export of 9,570 metric tonnes this year, the income has increased compared to last year. The Board has stated that 25,205 metric tonnes of tea was produced in FY 2075/76 and 24,118 metric tonnes in FY 2076/77.
Prepared tea is being exported from Nepal to India, Germany, USA, China, Russia, Netherlands and other countries.
