Trade Deficit of Nepal Widens by 26 Percent as Imports Surge by 31.58 Percent

In the first two months (Shrawan-Bhadra) of the current fiscal year 2083/84, the trade deficit of Nepal grew by 26.02 percent. The trade deficit in the first two months of current fiscal year 2083/84 reached Rs 324.93 billion. The trade deficit during the same period previous year was Rs 257.83 billion.
The imports have increased by 31.58 percent. Goods worth Rs. 401.51 billion were imported in the 2 month period, which stood at Rs 30.51 billion in the same period of the previous year.
Similarly, the export grew by 61.86 percent as compared to the corresponding period of previous fiscal year. About Rs 76.58 billion worth of items were exported in the 2 months period.
