Banks Distributing New Notes From Ashwin 4

Banks and financial institutions will provide new notes from today (Ashwin 4, 2078 BS). Banknotes can be exchanged at the nearest branch office specified by the commercial bank, according to the central bank. NRB has urged the people to adopt the health precaution keeping in mind the risk of transmission of corona virus.
The new banknote exchange facility has been provided in the Kathmandu Valley from today through designated branch offices of licensed commercial banks. The facility of note exchange can be availed by visiting the state office of NRB outside Kathmandu Valley or the nearest branch office designated by the commercial banks.
The central bank is preparing to distribute new notes of Rs 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. In total, the central bank is preparing to distribute new notes worth Rs 35 billion.
NRB had been distributing new notes during Dashain every year. However, in the last year NRB did not distribute new notes due to Corona epidemic. As corona epidemic has declined this year, the central bank is about to distribute new notes.
One can receive up to Rs 18,500 new notes for Dashain.
