Dhaniram Sharma Appointed As Chairman Of Rastriya Banijya Bank

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Dhaniram Sharma has been elected as the Chairman of Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited. A meeting of the bank’s board of directors on Thursday morning nominated Sharma as the chairman. Chairman Sharma has taken oath of office and secrecy from Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari of Nepal Rastra Bank on Thursday.
Earlier, the government had planned to make Upendra Koirala the chairman of the bank. The then Finance Minister Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada had appointed Koirala as the bank’s director by a ministerial decision. The process of making Koirala the chairman of the bank was postponed after widespread criticism over Koirala’s appointment. Koirala has resigned as soon as Sharma was appointed as the chairman.
The post of the chairman was vacant after the then chairman Nirmala Hari Adhikari was appointed as a member of the revenue board. The board of directors has selected Sharma as the chairman as per the directive of the finance ministry. Sharma became the director of the bank representing the finance ministry.
