SEBON Approves T+2 Clearing & Settlement System

January 10, 2021 | Investopaper

Now, the shares will be cleared and sold within two days (T+2). Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) on Friday directed to implement such a provision through the amendment of Securities Clearing and Settlement Regulations, 2069 BS.

The board has stated that CDS and Clearing will issue information for the implementation of this provision. Only then will the new law be implemented. Currently, there is a provision to clear and settle within three days of trading (T+3).

The Board has claimed that in view of the increasing use of technology in the securities market and international practice, provisions have been made to conduct securities trading in a ‘T+2’ Clearing and Settlement system.

In order to implement the policy and program of the Fiscal Year 2077/78, CDS & Clearing had submitted the amendment to the Board for approval by bringing the current ‘T+3’ in its regulation to ‘T+2’.
