Construction Of Badera Substation In Final Stage

The construction work of the New Butwal Bardaghat 220 KV transmission line substation under construction at Sunwal Badera in West Nawalparasi has reached the final stage. Most of the structures including more than a dozen power towers, control rooms, equipment connections, quarters, stores, security posts and residences, transformer stations have been completed so far. The project is said to be ready for testing soon.

The construction work of the substation of the New Butwal Bardaghat Transmission Line Project was started from Poush, 2075 BS. The substation is spread over an area of ​​20 bighas in Suryabasti, Ward No. 13 of Sunwal Municipality. It is being constructed with the loan assistance of the Asian Development Bank. The construction of this substation has been undertaken by the Indian contractor company Tata Projects Limited. Although the work was supposed to be completed by Ashad’s end 2076 BS, the work was delayed due to Covid.

The estimated cost of the substation is Rs 1.08 billion. It will transmit electricity generated from the Kaligandaki region to the cities under construction in the Central Terai. After the construction of this substation, the power coming from Kalidandaki Basin will be connected to the national transmission line. The work of power transmission will be easier in Nawalparasi, Butwal, Bhairahawa, and other areas.
