Four Solar Plants With Capacity of 117 MW Receive Survey License

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, four solar power projects have received permission to survey. These solar plants have a combined total capacity of 117 MW. Department of Electricity Development (DOED) has provided the approval for Survey.

The solar power projects that have received the survey license from DOED include Kalikhola Solar Plant, Mithila Solar Plant, Bhawanipur Solar Plant and Lamadanda Lalpur Solar Plant. Among these, the largest solar project is Lamadanda Lalpur Solar Plant. The promoter company Panas Energy Pvt. Ltd. is going to build a 100 MW capacity plant in Siraha district. According to the department, the company got permission for the survey on Karthik 20, 2077 BS.

Similarly, Goodluck Glocal Power Energy has received permission to survey the 7 MW Kalikhola Solar Plant in Nuwakot. Likewise, Solar Star Pvt. Ltd. has got permission for the survey to build a 5 MW Mithil Solar Plant in Dhanusha and Nepal Petroleum Trade Links Pvt. Ltd. to build a 5 MW Bhawanipur Solar Plant in Bara.

The period of survey license will be 2 years. The promoter companies have to send the project survey report to the department within two years. If the survey is not completed in two years, the license will be revoked.

500 MW Solar Power Projects Under Study

Previously, the 8.5 MW Butwal solar plant has come into commercial operation. The promoter company Ridi Hydro Power has brought the project into operation since last Ashwin. Apart from this, the Nepal Electricity Authority’s 25 MW solar plant in Nuwakot is also being prepared for operation. According to the department, 16 solar plants of 100 MW are currently under construction.

At current, about 500 MW of solar plants are being studied. So far, 32 solar plants with a capacity of 477.62 MW have received survey permission. Among those that have received the survey license, the largest project under study is carried out by the CG Energy Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. It is currently studying to build a 120 MW capacity solar plant in Mahottari. The company had already got permission for the project survey in 2075 BS.
