IPPAN Demands SEBON’s Permission For IPO Of 25 Hydropower Companies

Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has demanded the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to allow the issuance of ordinary shares of 25 hydropower companies.

IPPAN officials met Ramesh Kumar Hamal,  chairman of the board on Sunday and demanded permission to issue ordinary shares of these companies immediately. These hydropower companies have not been able to issue shares allotted for locals and general public in the project-affected areas for a long time.

IPPAN officials have complained that financial problems have started to appear in the work of the hydropower project under construction due to not getting permission to issue shares in time.

In response, Board Chairman Hamal assured to solve the problem regaring the issue of shares of the hydropower companies. He said that the role of hydropower sector was also important for the development and expansion of capital market.
