Despite the economic crisis caused by the epidemic, Nepal’s monetary position, index status and exchange reserves are favorable, and the financial sector is strong, said Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel while unveiling the economic survey on Friday.

The second wave of Covid-19, which spread with the onset of the new year 2078, has again challenged the dynamic economy and increased the risk, he said. Nepal’s economic growth rate was negative at 2.12 percent in 2076/77. The current growth rate of 4.01 is now challenging, said Minister Poudel. Earlier, the Central Statistics Office had projected 4.01 percent economic growth in the current fiscal year.

Finance Minister Poudel also informed that Rs. 1.32 billion has been paid to the social security fund. In the last four months of the fiscal year 2076/77, the contribution amount to be deposited on behalf of the workers and employers has been paid to the Social Security Fund.
