Nepal Airlines should sell shares to the public, suggests the Panel

The report submitted by the task force which was organized to boost the Nepal Airlines Corporation recommends privatization of NAC. The report was submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The panel has provided 13 suggestions including inviting a strategic partner to divesting shares to the public. The task force was formed under the coordination of Mr. Sushil Ghimire.
“In order to make NAC competitive and commercially viable, it’s operation modality should be changed,” said Mr. Ghimire. The report submitted by Mr. Ghimire and the team suggested divesting 49 percent shares to foreign or Nepali investors and other stakeholders.
Based on the report, NAC has a total loss of Rs. 5.21 billion with a debt of Rs. 40 billion.
Tourism Minister Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai has directed to take actions based on the suggestions provided by the panel.
