In the last fiscal year 2079/80, the number of young individuals seeking foreign employment surpassed 771,000, marking a significant rise from the previous financial year.

According to official data released by the Department of Foreign Employment, a record-breaking 771,327 workers obtained work permits and went abroad for employment during this period. This figure encompasses both new and re-entry workers.

In the preceding financial year 2078/79, a total of 637,133 workers had sought employment opportunities abroad. Comparing this with the most recent data, it indicates a noticeable increase in the trend of foreign job seekers.

The month of Karthik witnessed the highest number of labor approvals for foreign employment, with a total of 78,370 individuals securing permits. On the other hand, the lowest number of approvals was recorded in Baisakh, with only 54,457 individuals obtaining work permits during that month.

The overall figure of young individuals seeking foreign employment crossed the five-lakh mark for the first time since the financial year 2070/71.

It’s crucial to note that the reported data does not include individuals who traveled on visit visas and subsequently obtained work visas in countries like Dubai or European nations via India. Similarly, the number of seasonal workers and those working in India remains unaccounted for in the provided statistics.
