Times Energy recently obtained the construction permit from the Electricity Development Department and finalized the license sale for approximately Rs. two billion. The agreement, signed by Sushil Thapa of Sahas Urja Limtied and Deepak Kumar Malhotra of Times Energy, marks the transition of project ownership. With the necessary documentation handover underway, Sahas Urja is poised to take control of the project within a few weeks.
As the largest private sector operator of hydropower projects, Sahas Urja previously commissioned the 86 MW Solukhola Dudhkosi Hydroelectric Project since Magh 2079 BS. The company now plans to construct hydroelectric projects of up to 500 megawatts. Following the license acquisition, Sahas Urja aims to initiate construction within a year and achieve operational status within four years.
The estimated project cost stands at 65 billion, which will be financed with 75 percent debt and 25 percent equity. The project is expected to generate an average of 1,836 gigawatt hours annually.
The Budhigandaki Semi-Reservoir project is situated in Gorkha, covering Ward No. 1 and 3 of Dharche Rural Municipality and Ward No. 3 of Chumanuvri Rural Municipality. It features a 398-meter head, a 6 km tunnel, an underground power house, and 6 turbines with a 60.43 MW capacity.
