Super Kabeli ‘A’ Hydropower Project’s Construction Begins

Preparations have been started for the construction of Super Kabeli ‘A’ Hydropower Project from the Kabeli River flowing through the eastern Sirijangha rural municipality of the Taplejung district. 

Snow Rivers Pvt. Ltd. will construct the Super Kabeli ‘A’ Hydropower Project to generate 13.5 MW of electricity. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has already approved the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the project prepared by the company. The company aims to complete the construction of the project within Baisakh, 2080 BS.

The electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s national transmission line at Amarpur substation in Panchthar district. The project will connect 132 KV to Amarpur substation through 18 km long transmission line from the power house in Khebang-Yamphudin area. 

Along with this project, Kabeli ‘A’ (34 MW), Upper Kabeli (23 MW), Super Kabeli (20 MW) and Upper Kabeli-2 (10 MW) projects have been proposed to generate electricity from Kabeli River in Taplejung. The 25 MW Kabeli ‘B-1’ project in Taplejung-Panchthar area has already been completed and is currently in operation.
