Donald Trump who have been popular among the farmers in USA  is losing support from the group. This is because the farmers have been hit by tariffs that the top trading partners have imposed on their farm products. Trading partners were compelled to increase the tariff to reciprocate the tariff forced on their goods by Trump. Also, due to partial government shutdown the farmers who mostly rely on subsidy checks are hugely affected.Trump addressed the crowd in New Orleans this Wednesday expressing his love towards the farmers. He also asked the farmers to have patience and ensured them of having bright days ahead. He said- ” We’re doing trade deals that are going to get you so much business, you won’t believe it.”

The president of California Farm Bureau Federation said that farmers prioritize reliability and predictability the most in their need. He further elaborated that Trump could not assure this in recent times which has waged an anger among the farmers.

On the other hand, the trade war has hit the farmers as their product prices has declined with increase in unpredictability as well. They have also lost their market share due to this. The government shutdown has worsen the situation as some farmers are left with no choices for loan and subsidies.

Citing the effects of the trade war,the California Farm Bureau Federation president said that the China tariff has caused a loss to the farm industry. The China’s tariff has severely affected the farmers producing walnut, citrus and sweet cherry. He informed that China consumed $2 billion dollar of citrus from US import to illustrate the effect.

In this scenario, it is interesting to see how the coming days will be fruitful to the farmers.
