Vidhyut Utpadan Company Limited (VUCL) was formally established on 20 November 2016. It is government owned company with the intended public participation in the future. VUCL has a plan to become a leading electricity generation company across the country.
Currently, it is working in the projects such as:
1. Jagdulla Hydroelectric Project (JHEP): 106 MW
2. Kimathanka Arun Hydro Electric Project (KAHEP): 450 MW
3. Nalgad Storage HEP
4. Phukot Karnali HEP: 426 MW
5.Mugu Karnali Storage Hydro Electric Project: 1902 MW
Capital Structure Of Vidhyut Utpadan Company
Vidhyut Utpadan Company has an authorized capital of Rs. 20 billion and the issued capital is Rs. 10 billion. Similarly, the current paid up capital stands at Rs 2 billion.
The company has a planned promoter public structure of 71:29. Although VUCL has not yet issued shares to the general public, it will issue 17 percent share to the general public, 10 percent to the Project-affected local people and 2 percent to under-privileged people in near future.
The major promoters include Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Nepal Electricity Authority, Employees Provident Fund among others.
