Switzerland’s Zurich Airport International AG has refused to submit a proposal for the construction of Nijgadh International Airport. The construction of the Nijgadh International Airport has been pushed into uncertainty after the withdrawal by Zurich Airport International AG.
Zurich was given a second deadline of September 30 (Ashwin 14, 2077) to submit a proposal for the construction of the airport. Citing the adverse impact of COVID-19 on the aviation sector around the world, Zurich Airport said that it could not submit a proposal to the Investment Board.
Zurich had earlier given a 45-day deadline to submit a construction proposal. The Investment Board had given Zurich time to submit a detailed proposal for the construction of the airport by Falgun 18, 2076. . Zurich had asked for time at that time for various reasons and was given the last time until Ashwin 14, 2077.
The KP Sharma Oli-led government had selected Zurich, disqualifying six other companies for the construction of Nijgadh International Airport as a project of national pride. The government had mentioned in the policy and program of the current year that the construction of Nijgadh International Airport will be started.
