In the first ten months of the current fiscal year, Nepal exported cement and clinker worth Rs. 3.33 billion. This marks a significant increase compared to the same period last fiscal year, during which Rs. 554.4 million worth of cement and clinker were exported. The customs department’s data highlights this substantial growth in the cement and clinker export industry.
The department reported that Nepal exported 2,094,572 tons of cement valued at Rs. 1.67 billion. Additionally, clinker exports reached 4,716,160 tons, with a value of Rs. 1.66 billion.
Comparatively, in the first ten months of the previous fiscal year, Nepal’s clinker exports were valued at Rs. 302.4 million, and cement exports were worth Rs. 251.9 million.
On the import side, Nepal imported Rs. 41.46 million worth of cement from India in the last ten months. This is a noticeable decrease from the Rs. 277.5 million worth of cement imported during the same period the previous year. The reduction in imports could be attributed to the increased domestic production capacity and the growing export market.
