Gmail users affected by global interruption

Users of Gmail has been hit by outages around the world this Wednesday. Many users from countries around the globe reported the issue with free email service developed by Google.  Also, Google Drive, Hangouts and Google Maps were hit by global outages.

Users were unable to send the message while some observed the problems while opening the attachment.

Gmail tracking websites around the globe reported that the spike in users reporting problems with Gmail was seen from 2 am GMT.

Addressing the issue through a statement,  Google said: “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or another unexpected behavior.”

The free email service has more than one billion users. Google has not reported the cause of the problem although it was fixed after 4.5 hours.
